Cindy began her radio career
nearly 13 years ago when she was the telephone operator
for the Gil Yuris Polka Review, broadcasted on AM540
WWCS in Canonsburg Pennsylvania. Shortly after
Gil's retirement, Cindy took the calls and would
announce the special dedications and requests on air and
soon became the co-host of The Polka Review.
After a
few years at WWCS as the co-host, Disney Radio purchased
the station and cancelled all of its programs and
changed the program format to children's radio, putting
ethnic programming out in the street.
This did
not discourage Cindy from wanting to share her love and
dedication to polka music, as she found a home for the
show on AM620 - WKHB, a 5,500 watt station in Greensburg
Pennsylvania. And, although it meant changing the
original broadcast time of 8AM to 7AM, she still did not
give up on her love of broadcasting.
In a
stroke of luck, the station owner moved KHB nearly 20
minutes closer to Pittsburgh, making the drive a little
bit shorter. Cindy, who is now the full-time host,
is still broadcasting at KHB and has no plans on giving
up the show any time soon.
Keeping
the tradition of the Gil Yuris Polka Review, Cindy plays
polka music including; Polish, Czech, German and
Slovenian Styles. She has a large library of polka
music, including songs from years past, all the way up
to today's great polka music hits, which can be heard as
far away as Eastern Pennsylvania, Cleveland Ohio, West
Virginia and Maryland! And, thanks to the power of
the Internet, she can be listened to all over the world.
Cindy
continues to welcome requests and dedications from her
listeners as well as businesses to become sponsors and
dedicated partners in keeping ethnic radio alive.

The Polka Revue is paid
for by Cindy Placek and her Polka Sponsors.
